Pendolino performance

Period 0904 performance was down on last period with 77.3% of services arriving at destination within 10 minutes of booked time. Reliability also suffered with 95.3 % of services operating. Morning Business Train performance was also down on last period, with 86.7% of business trains arriving at Euston within 10 minutes of booked time.

The major causes of disruption in the period were Infrastructure failures affecting the West Coast Mainline, particularly south of Stafford. Signalling system and overhead line problems as well as fatalities and bridge strikes caused major disruption to customers on a number of days. Disruption was particularly acute on 25 June and 1,6,9,11 July when PPM was below 60%. Delays and Cancellations due to Virgin's own performance remain low with good reliability from our train sets achieved through close working with our train maintenance providers, Alstom and Bombardier for the Pendolino and Voyager trains'.

We remain committed to engaging with all industry partners to deliver our Joint Performance Improvement Plan to assist in minimising disruption to customers. Network Rail and Virgin continue to work together closely to deliver the train service during the ongoing West Coast Mainline infrastructure upgrade works.
